About The South Bay Women's Social Group

Who are we???


This group is for Women who are Too Young To Be Old! We are of a 'certain age', energetic mid-lifers, mostly 40+ & 50+, married, single, divorced, or in transition, seeking stimulating conversation, friendships, a strong sense of camaraderie, & a good old fashioned girlfriend connection! We are a group where you can share a few laughs, try some new activities and hopefully cultivate some new friendships.

This is not just an activity group. Our goal is to support, empower, intellectually stimulate and bond with other women. We are members-driven with activities, meetings or pure social gatherings hosted by members. We will also set aside a couple of events a year with the family, kids, husbands (yes, them too), boyfriends, partners and pets. We believe in maintaining balance and harmony with those that are important in our lives.

We come together at least twice a month, on various days & times, and on occasional weekends for events like dinners, shopping, charitable events, hiking or wine tasting. We will also get together just to hang out for no-good-reasons except to spend some down time with our girlfriends. We might even come together to promote our home-based business amongst friends or raise money for a cause we believe in. The possibilities are endless!!

The goal is to create an inviting and welcoming environment at every event that will be designed to encourage new friendships. While the group continues to thrive and grow, our events will remain intimate and welcoming where you will get to know other members beyond casual acquaintance.

Fees:
In order for us to facilitate this group on the meetup site, we maintain a very reasonable membership due of $12.00 for 12 months. This amount will pay a hosting fee (charged by The Meetup Organization) and also for other incidentals (drinks, paper plates, cups, etc?) at our meetings. All membership due are payable immediately with the approval of your membership. No reminder emails will be sent out for payment.

Although I have made the initial effort to start this group, your input, thoughts, and ideas, will be essential in making our gatherings fun, interesting and fulfilling. Remember, this is YOUR group. Everyone has a say in this group, so feel free to come with any suggestions you might have or just send me an email.

Some guidelines:

On RSVPs

Only paid members are given priorities to RSVP YES for our events.

This group is about making friends. Considerations are given to our friends when we RSVP for events. Please do NOT RSVP 'yes' unless you are absolutely sure you will be attending the event. Most of our events are held at member's home and space is limited. We do NOT stand up our friends after we have make plans with them!! Chronic No-Shows will be removed from the Group. You will also be considered a No-Show if you change your YES RSVP to No RSVP within 24 hours of the event without a good reason.

If you can't attend the event, please take a few moments to RSVP 'NO'. This will help us in organizing better events for the group.

We do not have the 'Maybe' category. Like all good relationships we need to make the effort and priority when it comes to making friends.

There will be no refunds (no exceptions) once the membership or event fees have been paid.


Punctuality
Please arrive on time and do NOT let your friends wait for you. If you are going to be late for an event you have RSVPed, please check with the host/organizer of that event to see if it's okay to arrive late.

Guests
Each member may bring a guest to any event once. After which, the guest will have to join as a member to be part of the group.

Member's Hosting
While Member's hosting is not mandatory, it is encouraged. This is a good opportunity for any member to share something she enjoys, (craft, outing, movie, coffee, etc?) with her with group. Member who hosts or organizes an event or gathering will be exempt from the membership dues for that 6-month period. It's our way of saying Thank You for participating and contributing to the Group!

Promoting home-based business
Members may only promote their home-based business when they have been active in the group for at least 6 months, and must be approved by the organizer.
