Also, Friday is "Tough Enough to Wear Pink" day at the Cloverdale Rodeo (fundraiser for breast cancer support & research). So if you have a pink cowboy hat, you should wear it. Really.

If you don't have any cowboy hat, just email me and we will find you one to borrow.

COWBOYS TO VIE FOR $360,000 IN PRIZE MONEY IN ALL NEW "INVITATIONAL EVENT"

The 62nd annual Cloverdale Rodeo will now be the second richest Pro Rodeo in the country. The Cloverdale Rodeo and Exhibition Association are pleased to announce that the 2008 Cloverdale Rodeo and Country Fair will feature a brand new "invitational" rodeo format which will showcase the top cowboys and cowgirls in the world.

This new format marks the most significant change in the history of the Cloverdale Rodeo and Country Fair - with organizers anticipating even more exciting action and entertainment in the rodeo arena. Each rodeo contestant will compete twice and the combined total score/time will determine the top eight contestants for the Finals on Monday.

The top 24 cowboys in the Bull Riding, Saddle Bronc and Bareback events, as well as the top 24 Ladies Barrel Racers, based on the 2007 Final World Standings, will be invited to compete at Cloverdale. The world's number one ranked bareback rider, Bobby Mote of Culver, Oregon will be on the slate at the 2008 Cloverdale Rodeo as well as world #11 ranked and nine-time National Finals Rodeo barrel racing contestant Molly Powell.

Are you tough enough to wear pink? That's the question that organizers of the 2008 Cloverdale Rodeo and Country Fair are going to be asking participants, staff and guests who attend this year's opening night rodeo event on Friday, May 18th.

The Cloverdale Rodeo has been supporting Breast Cancer since 2006 and is recognized as Canada's first professional rodeo to participate in the Tough Enough To Wear Pink international fundraising event. Once again, this year's Rodeo will partner with the Crystal Gala Foundation and Wrangler Jeans to encourage rodeo participants, Cloverdale staff and volunteers to proudly wear pink in support of those whose lives have been affected by breast cancer.

Over $5,000 has been raised since 2006.

Over the past eight years The Crystal Gala Foundation has raised over $600,000 to combat breast cancer. The Crystal Gala Foundation, in collaboration with the Fraser Valley branch of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, has used these donations to fund awareness programs, early diagnosis, effective treatments and specialized equipment for local hospitals.
